About GarnishMap

A statute-cited information hub for US wage garnishment, head-of-family exemption, and bank-account-levy defense. Not a law firm. Not a debt-relief operator. Not a referral service. We show the math, cite the statute, and link the form you'd file to assert your exemption.

Editorial mission

The audience for GarnishMap is in active financial distress. Restraint is the trust signal. We refuse to use urgency manipulation, panic CTAs, countdown timers, or ambulance-chaser register. We also refuse to promote any operator on our ethics-floor exclusion list — debt-resolution mills and debt-settlement operators with FTC enforcement history. The audience-trust signal of saying that out loud outweighs any referral revenue we might earn by playing the game.

Reviewer

Every state page and the calculator formula are reviewed by a licensed consumer-finance / consumer-bankruptcy attorney.

Annual attorney review in progress

We will not publish a fabricated reviewer name to satisfy E-E-A-T signals. Full statute-by-statute attorney review is the load-bearing gate before any state page leaves research-side review. See methodology for the editorial protocol.

What we don't do

  • We don't collect email addresses, run exit-intent popups, or use live chat.
  • We don't use retargeting pixels.
  • We don't promote debt-resolution mills (CuraDebt, Freedom Debt Relief, National Debt Relief, and similar operators with FTC enforcement history). Period.
  • We don't give legal advice for your specific case. Talk to an attorney for that.
  • We don't fabricate state-statute citations or dollar amounts.

What we do

  • Cite primary sources (state legislatures, Cornell LII, eCFR, federal-agency sites).
  • Pin a last-verified date on every state page and every doctrine subsection.
  • Disclose every affiliate relationship transparently in the component, not in a buried footer.
  • Surface free state-bar lawyer-referral services alongside any paid affiliate option.
  • Provide a calculator that shows its work — every step traceable to statute.

Operator

GarnishMap is published by Desymphony EOOD. Governing law for the site is Delaware. See /terms and /privacy for the legal-entity disclosure and data-controller details.
